Have you ever logged into a Windows server and seen that a dev has installed Chrome or Firefox to get rid of "funny Internet Explorer warning messages"?
Yes, well me too. But you can turn these warnings off in a few clicks.
Right click "My Computer"
In the resulting dialogue click Configure IE ESC (on the right side of the window in the "Security information" section
You'll get the following dialogue:
From here, it is simple to turn off the messages which are actually called "Internet Explorer enhanced secruity configuration" rather than "funny messages".
I've created a package that allows you to create PDFs from
Umbraco using XSL-FO. You can download the package from our.umbraco.org
The video below is a demonstration of the package
I've made some investments in buying the technology to do the
XSL-FO transformation so this will be a commercial package.
Details of how to buy are available here.
I’m getting close to being done with the Umbraco ‘place’ datatype. As soon as Virgin Media restore my Internet service at home I’ll be ready to release!Since my first post, place markers are now draggable for extra accuracy and you can place multiple maps within a document type. Maps in different tabs is now supported after an initial issue with maps which were rendered while not displayed.
punctuation is treated by our system as illegal characters, including £ and & signs.
Can you confirm which internet browser you are using as the site is only compatible with Internet Explorer at the moment. If you're using another browser you may have to switch to a machine that has Internet Explorer in order to submit your claim.
Now you my readers are more than aware what is wrong with this - on so many levels.
My plea then is to the government. Why in this day and age do you have so many
on each request. If you are wondering what the purpose of this is, think about the technology behind Amazon recommendations and numerous sites that implement 'you may be interested in this' functionality. Once your content is classified, it isn't too
So I need to learn how to use Umbraco
5 - because in a couple of months of time I'll be teaching it
to others. I've played with version 5 during development and
contributed a few bits of information back to the community but now
is the time to get real.
I always find that there is nothing like a real project when
learning a technology. I'd spent the last couple of weeks deciding
what would be my proof of concept project, a little afraid to
commit a client to such as breaking piece... the types of
work we do and that obviously impacts the content we serve. From
being a pure services company we now sell some products and as we
provide training for which we need to take bookings.
In performing this technology refresh we'll get
to Autonomy technology being market leading with "no competitors".
Interestingly some of those who had worked with IDOL referred to it
as "dated" and "clunky" in private conversations. I'm yet to get my
teeth stuck into IDOL personally so I'll... production environment - and what kind of hardware
resources it requires. I'm also wondering where the revenue comes
from - If we get IDOL server for free what do we have to buy? Are
we getting hooked on this new technology first and the paid... thought Toby Bell delivered a good presentation but it
didn't relate specifically to any Autonomy Interwoven products. To Conclude:All in all it was an interesting day. I'm looking forward to
getting my hands on some of the technology that Autonomy
Disclaimer: I see this as a nice little hack, and something that I’ll use for development and fast prototyping. I’m not recommending it for production use and I know and appreciate that the guys behind Umbraco would probably discourage this in terms of 'best practices'. There is nothing here you couldn't do with C#.
Anyway, having said that, I think Perl is a great and very current technology. I use it day in day out as part of my work with Interwoven TeamSite and it still powers some of the biggest sites on the web including the BBC and parts of Amazon. Web frameworks like Catalyst are excellent and I’m quite prepared to argue my corner with anyone who thinks that Perl is old ‘skool’ and dated.
For those of you who aren’t
when some of these were acceptable
scenarios, mainly due to the limitations of technology but leaving
something dated in place because "it works" isn't an acceptable
scenario in my book.If you are a vendor who commits one of these crimes against WCM
