Just a quick post to point you at a couple of my latest activities in the Umbraco communiity:
In November I spoke at the Umbraco UK festival on the subject: Umbraco and the 3 flavours of Azure: Webroles, VMs, Websites. The video of the talk is now online to watch.
Secondly I've contributed an article to 24 days in Umbraco the fabulous advent calendar for Umbraco enthusiasts. The article is called Mapping Umbraco content to POCOs for strongly typed views.
In the absence of regular blogging we also now have a news page on the Moriyama site where you can follow what is going on in the company. Our social media feeds (linked in the footer of the Moriyams site) are the best way to stay bang up to date!
I've created an Umbraco package that highlights Umbraco textstring data types when their value doesn't match the specified validation regular expression.Get the package from our.umbraco.orgApologies for the sound quality - I'm having some microphone issues at the mo :)
The Umbraco backup database restore tool for XML mode backups is now available for download.
Please read the user manual carefully before using this tool to restore an Umbraco database.
I've created an Umbraco package that receives Paypal IPN (Instant payment notification) requests and stores them as a content node in Umbraco. The video below is a demonstration of the package.
Get the package from our.umbraco.org
A little while back I started an Umbraco MetaWeblog API implementation. I know a couple of other Umbraco developers were interested in this functionality so I have put it in SVN with the other Umbraco extensions.
As I am really busy at the moment it is unlikely I will be able to do anything with this for a while. If you want to contribute to finishing it off, drop me a mail and I can run you though how to get it up and running.
There was a very good web chat yesterday about the Umbraco 3.0 package repository.
Details are here. http://www.umbraco.org/10722.aspx
With the release of Umbraco 5 upon us a there will be some
changes to the certification courses. Doug Robar and I
receive daily emails with questions about this so I thought I would
blog to clear up what will be happening.
The information in this course applies to UK courses only - it
is probably accurate for other courses too, but please check with
your local trainer before booking anything.
So without further ado, here is the Umbraco 5 training FAQ:
Will you stop teaching Umbraco
Yes, we will stop running public Umbraco 4 courses in the UK -
those listed for February will be the last, we won't schedule any
after that. Both Doug and I will be happy to teach Umbraco 4 at
your company office upon request
I have added a Personal/Non-profit license to Umbraco backup. This license allows you to use all of the features of Umbraco Backup for £15 (US$28 or €22).In order to take advantage of this license, your site must be a personal website, a registered charity or a non profit organisation.
As you may know I have been supporting Umbraco, a fantastic .net open source CMS and application framework.
After a few months of debate I have finally bitten the bullet. This weblog is now running with my own customised version of the Umbraco blog extension.
After several months waiting for approval the Intro website is live.
Umbraco feeds XML to a flash front end build by
web maestro Rich Salter.
Site design was done internally by Intro.
Believe it or not, despite all of my interest in Umbraco, this
is my first site to go live other than my own domain!
