fail to implement some very basic web standards and best practices.
Validating your pages against your declared DTD, Providing RSS
Feeds and SEO friendly URLs are just a few extremely basic items
that a leading ECM vendor should take the time to implement. Oh,
and you can't search the developer site for key TeamSite
terminology like DCR, XML and TPL because they are too short.

A while back I discussed the desire to have a document that
helped me to evaluate a web content management system from a
developer perspective. A few other people expressed interest in the
idea so I've published a very rough first draft here in case anyone
wishes to collaborate or provide any feedback. The document is intended to be a verbose specification of a
simple website to build in the CMS the functionality of which is
extremely common to most websites. The exercise itself should take
no more than a day and leave a developer with a good feel of how to
perform basic tasks such as create content types and templates. The
simplicity of the exercise is such that I'd expect any reasonable

This post should be subtitled "or stop moaning".As a pre-cursor to the main content of my post a note to CSS
developers. Be careful what you set your heart upon.
If IE6 was banished/killed/gone what would differentiate you from
any other web... of IE6 too. Although I rarely get hands
on with browsers from day to day I have done in the past. I'm aware
of the frustrations and I think it is a completely legitimate
movement to get people to install modern standards compliant
browsers.I take... such time that you've communicated to
your customer your EOL plan. If you've never supported IE6 or are
some gimmicky web 2.0 site then I guess it is your call. Now for #3. We've seen a series of sites recently such as I dropped IE6, IE6 Update, IE6

migrate all of my users to be stored in a database table in a
custom schema defined by your CMS.I'm trying to define the layout for a web page using your CMS

We do web - applications and content. We are very good at
Interwoven (Autonomy) content management products and Umbraco. If
these technologies won't contain your application we'll work with
ASP.net or (PHP or Perl if you want) to create something that does.
Good quality graphic design and user experiences are very important
Here are some reasons that you should work with us:
1. 15 years experience. We've been building the web... wouldn't
deliver anything that didn't conform to current standards.
4. We don't do exploitation - Controversial subject this, but if

There was a very good web chat yesterday about the Umbraco 3.0 package repository.

Good for: Nice atmosphere, friendly staff.
Bad for: Pork-fest
Three and a half chilli rated

We are always a bit worried about Hybrid Vietnamese/Chinese
restaurants, but this place on Mare street was a good solid bowl,
and a welcome relief after our trip to Cambridge the night
Good for: Basic, but solid performer.
Bad for: No herbs, beansprouts or chilli sauce. Slightly dodgy
Three chilli rated

We were a little dubious about this venue. The name and the
ultra tourist location didn't quite ring true. Once seated, the
herbs were waiting on the counter and the chilli sauce was on the
The dish itself was Pho, as they didn't serve Hue style, and we
didn't have any real criticism. The stock was pretty basic which is
why we gave three chillis, but basically a tasty bowl.
Good for: Tourist location.
Bad for: Nothing really
